I want students to leave with two things: a toolkit for their daily work, and the habit of using scientific reasoning and evidence, so they can see through the next management fad.
How I teach
My classes combine a flipped classroom with case-based discussion. Students prepare the material in advance, so class time works as a discussion rather than a lecture, and each session leaves room for students to steer it: when the questions and the proposed solutions come from them, they remember them. We taste Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate before taking apart the company’s strategy, and run a blind soda tasting to open the Cola Wars case.
I treat generative AI as a complement, not a substitute. Every assessment carries its own AI rule, and in “Invent the Quiz” students write exam questions themselves: a chatbot can draft one, but a plausible wrong answer only works if you understand where a concept actually gets difficult.
“He never lectures AT you; he sets up each class session in a way that gets students participating and paying attention.”

Strategic Management · MGMT 35200
Undergraduate core course, since 2023. Redesigned through Purdue’s IMPACT course-transformation program into eight modules, from industry structure to stakeholder strategy, with a case pack refreshed every year.
Distinguished Instructor, Spring 2023, Fall 2023, Spring 2025 · IMPACT Faculty Fellow, 2024
Innovation Management · MGMT 44630
An elective I developed as a new course, first offered in 2025. Built around a four-phase framework (search, select, implement, capture), with modules on AI-powered, agile, non-hierarchical, and remote organizations.
Distinguished Instructor, Spring 2025
Micro-Structural Analysis and Modeling of Organizations · MGMT 69000
Doctoral seminar on the micro-structural approach to organization design. Students learn computational modeling in Python and finish by building their own agent-based model. See the Code page for models used in class.
